Christ the King founded and will be hosting the Kendall Park Farm Market as a way to feed and nourish the people in our community with locally grown and produced food. In early 2014, a few CtK members noted the absence of a farm market in South Brunswick and began talking about starting one on our lawn. The idea was born out of the confluence of several things: an interest in healthy, locally produced food, enjoyment of other farm markets, and CtK's tradition of having flea markets and the pumpkin patch, a pet blessing and many picnics on our lawn. The members began to research what it would take to open a farm market on our lawn to serve South Brunswick and south Franklin Township, as well as commuters on Route 27. The plan they developed was discussed with the congregation and approved by the congregation council. Necessary approvals from the South Brunswick Township Zoning Board were obtained. Vendors were contacted and signed up, and on May 21, 2014, the market opened with 7 vendors and is growing.
The proceeds from each vendor's sales at the market go to the vendor. The proceeds from the vendor fees go to support other ministries at CtK and to the South Brunswick Food Panty. We hope to grow the market and bring it back year after year. We reopen in 2015 on July 1. See you there.
